As a life-long science educator and resident of the GL region’s largest watershed, may I ask that funding be allocated for both formal and informal education activities? These can engage all stakeholders in stewardship initiatives which will decrease detrimental activities and increase involvement in community-based restoration and remediation projects. In Lake Erie’s Western Basin, for example, the reduction of phosphate runoff and the planting of riparian strips are fairly “accessible” activities which would prevent the further increase of toxic algal overgrowth now plaguing our basin.
